ClassEtiquette
Please familiarize yourself with the contents of this page before attending classes. These standards keep everyone safe, respectful, and ready to train.
Hygiene
Attend class with a good standard of hygiene. Keep your body and hair clean, nails short, and clothes clean. This is a requirement out of respect for your training partners.
Punctuality
Arrive 10 minutes early. You’ll benefit from the warm-up, reduce injury risk, and get more value from your training. It’s also considerate to your fellow students.
Clothing
Athletic shoes (wrestling shoes or non-aggressive soles), athletic pants or shorts, and t-shirts or tank tops. No rips or loose material for safety reasons. ETKM and Krav Maga Alliance gear is welcome.
Equipment
Groin guard (for obvious reasons) and hand wraps (optional — protects hands and wrists). Both can be purchased at the front desk.
Jewelry
Remove necklaces, bracelets, and watches. Hooped earrings and body piercings must be removed or covered with a plaster.
Injuries & Medical
Declare any injuries at the start of class when your instructor asks. Check with a medical professional before starting if you have concerns. Disclose conditions that could affect your safety or your partner’s: asthma, blood pressure, epilepsy, etc.
Attitude
This school has a strong reputation for friendly, approachable, and supportive students and instructors. Egotism and machismo are not welcome. Any abuse — whether aimed at race, sex, religion, sexual orientation, or disability — directed at students or any member of the public, in class or on social media, will not be tolerated and can result in expulsion.
Effort & Work Rate
This isn’t a military regime — you’re not punished for falling short. But students are encouraged to put in 100% to get 100% out. Anything less and you’re only letting yourself down. Train Hard, Fight Easy.
Pressure Testing
Students are encouraged to make training as realistic as possible. This includes swearing, aggression, and threatening behavior during drills — to prepare for the reality of an explosive verbal assault in a street situation, which can cause adrenaline dump and seriously affect your ability to perform self-defense techniques.
We train as real as possible (without racist, homophobic, or personal comments) while avoiding injury. This is one of the factors that sets reality-based self-defense apart from traditional martial arts. Attend with an open mind — on the streets, attackers do not say please and thank you.
Train Hard, Fight Easy. Come prepared, stay respectful, and give everything you’ve got.
