ETKM Testing & Workshops

How you move through the ETKM curriculum — from section workshops to level tests. Here’s what the process looks like.

The Structure

How the Curriculum Is Built

L1 Level 1 — Building the Foundation

Level 1 has two sections (A and B) covering the basics — self-defense fundamentals, fighting stance, and movement. A full test at the end of Level 1 confirms you’ve built the foundation for everything that follows.

L2–6 Levels 2–6 — Building On What You Know

Each level is divided into four sections (A, B, C, D). Each section introduces more complex techniques and strategies — advanced strikes, defenses, weapon handling, and high-stress situation management. Every section builds on the one before it.

Evaluation

How You’re Assessed

Workshops

Each curriculum section ends with a workshop. Approximately 2 hours. $35. This is a focused session where you review, clarify, and pressure-test what you’ve covered in that section. Your instructor assesses your understanding and your ability to apply what you’ve learned — not just repeat it.

Level Tests

A prep workshop is held first to answer questions and work through anything that needs attention. Then the level test. Approximately 4 hours total. $45. The test evaluates your practical skills and your knowledge from ETKM handbooks and resources.

Check the Events tab on ETKMstudent.com for upcoming workshop and test dates.
