YOUTH SELF-DEFENSE

ETKM’s Youth Self-Defense Program – Tyler’s Premier Reality-Based Training for Ages 8–14

Every parent wants the same thing: a child who feels safe, confident, and prepared. But traditional martial arts classes weren’t built for the real dangers kids face today. Your child deserves more than forms, belts, and memorized routines—they deserve training that actually keeps them safe.

That’s why East Texas Krav Maga is Tyler’s leading Reality-Based Self-Defense school, and why we’ve created a Youth Program designed to protect your child in the moments that matter most. We focus on building courage, readiness, and real-world capability, not trophies or choreography.

Your child trains through private sessions, small groups, and immersive seminars, learning simple, instinctive skills that work under pressure.

And you’re never left guessing.
We walk with your family from the beginning—listening, consulting, building a customized plan, and giving you a clear blueprint so your child becomes safer, more confident, and more capable day by day.

Your child’s safety is too important to leave to chance. We’ll help you build a plan that works.

Why Focused Training Works Better Than Traditional Classes

Most youth martial arts programs teach in crowded rooms with little personal attention. Kids practice the same routines for months without ever learning what real danger looks like or how to respond under pressure.

Our program is different because we build a plan—your child’s plan.
Through your consultation, we learn exactly what your child needs, then tailor their training accordingly. This ensures the skills stick and the confidence grows.

We focus on:

  • Direct coaching tailored to your child’s needs

  • Small groups that build confidence without overwhelm

  • A personalized training blueprint designed from your consultation

  • Scenario-based learning rooted in real-world safety

  • Skills that stick through pressure-tested drills

How We Work With Your Family

Every family begins with a Youth Safety Consultation.
This isn’t a one-off conversation—it’s the foundation of everything we build together.

Here’s our process:

1. We Consult

We learn about your child’s confidence level, challenges, environment, fears, and strengths.

2. We Build a Custom Training Plan

We design a structured roadmap tailored to your child using a mix of:

  • One-on-one sessions

  • Small-group training

  • Youth seminars

  • Home reinforcement strategies

3. We Give You a Blueprint for Safety

We show you exactly what your child needs, how we’ll train it, and how you can support them at home.
This blueprint is designed for effectiveness, retention, and long-term safety skills.

4. We Execute That Plan Together

As your child trains, we adjust, reinforce, and progress their skills so confidence and capability continue to grow.

This isn’t a “program.” It’s a partnership in your child’s safety.

THE THREE TRAINING PILLARS OF ETKM’S YOUTH SELF-DEFENSE PROGRAM

These pillars form the foundation of the safety blueprint we build for your child — simple, direct, and proven under real-world pressure.

1. Awareness, Movement & Escaping Dangerous Situations

Before a child throws a single strike, they must understand their surroundings and know how to move within them. This pillar teaches kids to recognize danger early, avoid being trapped, and escape before things escalate.

Your child will learn how to:

  • Spot early warning signs and identify unsafe people or situations

  • Move smart — using angles, distance, and awareness to avoid being controlled

  • Escape tight or restricted areas (between cars, walls, hallways, crowds)

  • Break free from grabs, holds, and unwanted contact to run to safety

2. Bully Defense & Boundary Setting

Bullying is one of the most common threats kids face — and they need both the mindset and the physical tools to handle it. We teach a clear distinction between fighting and self-defense:

We don’t start fights. But we will fight back to stay safe.

Kids develop the confidence to stand up for themselves and the skills to win confrontations quickly and safely if things become physical.

Your child will learn how to:

  • Use assertive voice and posture to stop bullying early

  • Defend, strike, and counterattack when a bully puts hands on them

  • Combine striking and grappling to break holds, stay standing, and dominate space

  • Understand when and how to take action safely and appropriately

3. Abduction Recognition & Defense

Abduction attempts require immediate, decisive action. This pillar teaches kids how predators operate — and gives them the grit, mindset, and physical skills to disrupt, escape, and run.

We remove the freeze response through realistic drills that hardwire fast, confident action under stress.

Your child will learn how to:

  • Defend grabs, bearhugs, lifts, and dragging attempts

  • Strike vital targets with power and intention to create escape opportunities

  • Develop grit and a take-action mindset through pressure-tested drills

  • Overcome hesitation and build habits that drive fast, decisive movement
